Cooking Workshop:  Savory Tarts, Tartines & Meat Pies

Cook alongside Valarie in her kitchen preparing some of her most requested dishes and time-tested recipes in this hands-on workshop. These dishes show up at so many of our special occasions and gatherings. They are all unique to Valarie’s cooking style of elevating each dish through the use of special ingredients, spices and cooking techniques. This workshop will allow you to walk away with the skills to prepare them for your friends and family at your next gathering.

Savory Tarts

Roasted Tomato Tart – Beautifully baked puff pastry shell loaded with a Ricotta cheese & herb mixture topped with a beautifully roasted medley of cherry tomatoes.

Rustic Mushroom Tart – Beautifully baked puff pastry shell loaded with a mushroom medley, feta cheese, cream cheese, and thyme.

Savory Tartines

Roasted Tomato & Pesto Tartine – Sliced grilled garlic Tuscan bread or pain de campagne topped with freshly made basil pesto and roasted cherry tomatoes finished with sea salt & crushed black rainbow peppercorns.

Mushroom Tartine – Sliced grilled garlic Tuscan bread or pain de campagne topped with savory soy marinated shitake mushrooms.

Goat Cheese & Asparagus Tartine – Sliced grilled garlic Tuscan bread or pain de campagne with goat cheese and topped with sautéed fresh asparagus.

Meat Pies

British Style Sausage Rolls– These savory sausage rolls always deliver. Hot juicy pork sausage rolled into buttery puff pastry. Amazing for breakfast, but great any time of the day.

Easter Pie – This Italian classic is usually prepared for Easter but is a welcome dish any time of year. This beautiful pie contains a bottom layer of provolone cheese,  a layer of ricotta mixture followed by a layer of broccoli rabe and hot Italian sausage then topped with a layer hot capicola and a final layer of provolone all sandwiched between two beautiful layers of golden pie crust.

All classes included everything needed. Bring your favorite chef’s knives and apron or use ours. Class size will be limited to 8-10 students for a memorable and intimate culinary experience. More than a just a cooking class, share in our passion of seeking out great food and learn the story behind the origins of each dish, the unique flavor profiles, quality ingredients used and time-tested cooking techniques. Cost: $75/student.
